PAINT SYSTEM

Substrate and Pretreatment

"Our method of bare metal Restoration ensures the integrity of your vehicle. The initial treatment of applying primer and surfacer, being essential to the quality finish of the entire paint system."

The first step of this treatment is to thoroughly chemically clean and sand (also sandblast if necessary) the panels of the vehicle.

After this preparation, the bare metal of the vehicle is cleaned once more to remove any contaminants left behind from the first step to achieve sufficient adhesion of the paint system.

The vehicles surface is then coated with a ‘High acid wash Primer.’ This ensures excellent adhesion and anti-corrosion properties.

Our next step is to cover all the panels in ‘High build Primer (surfacer),’ with a minimum of three to four coats. This is then sanded with 80-120 grit, the corners and edges sanded by hand with a soft back pad.

Fillers are applied at this stage if needed, and are sanded with 120-180 grit, depending on the size of the vehicle and the condition of the surface.

The vehicle is then re-primed with three to four coats of ‘High build Primer.’

All surfaces are then block sanded (using ‘black shadow coat’) with 240 grit finishing with 500 grit, depending on the paint system you've chosen, whether it's a solid colour, metallic etc…

Any sanded areas that have gone through to metal, are spot primed to ensure an even finish.

The prepared surfaces are then thoroughly cleaned with ‘wax and silicone remover’ wiped over with a tack cloth.

Paint Application Process

"With our top-of-the line products and equipment, including a 'Seetal' downdraft bake oven and our first class paint products, your vehicle comes out of the bake oven evenly sprayed in quality, from hood to back guards, and every panel in between."

The process begins with the vehicle being painted in our 'Seetal' downdraft bake oven then baked at 60ºC for one hour.

The next step is to apply 'Wax and Silicon remover' to clean the surface, then wipe with a tack cloth and re-coat with four coats of clear.

We achieve an excellent finish by block-sanding the clear coats with 1500-3000 grit sandpaper. The vehicle is then machine polished to a high standard and waxed.
